5am runner’s haiku

Alarm heavy eyes

Riverside footfall in rain

Swans sleep undisturbed

  1. I really enjoyed the descriptiveness of this Haiku, however the second line contains eight syllables rather than the traditional seven. Was that on purpose, maybe? Maybe you were expressing how waking up so very early in the morning to run around while everything else is quiet and asleep the mind does not fret about simple things like syllables?

    Either way, it’s still good.
